UNIVERSITY OF VENICE


The University of Venice is named Università degli studi "Ca' Foscari" (Ca' Foscari University of Venice) and takes its name from the palace in which it’s located . Ca’ Foscari is a palace on the Grand Canal, between Rialto and St. Mark’s.

It was founded in 1866 and it was the first educational institute where Commerce and Economics were taught in Italy. The institute became a university in 1903.

The current University has seven Majors (Economics, Foreign Languages, Literature, Philosophy, Mathematical, Physical and Natural Science) and more then 10.000 students. The faculty of Economics is divided in four areas of research and teaching: economics proper, business management, mathematics and stastistics, and law.
The Department of Economic Sciences edits an international journal of economics.
