" (...) In Venice Tasso's echoes are no more;
And silent runs the songless gondolier;
Her palaces are crimbling to the shore;
And music meets not always the ear;
Those days are gone - but beauty still is here."
With these words Byron describes the melancholic decay of the sparkling past of Venice, but he also finishes the frase that beauty still remains in this timeless city.
It has in fact precious artistic and architectural works that still attract thousands of people every year without mentioning the importance of the events like Carnival, "Biennale" and "Festival of cinema".
Besides Venice, you can also visit its surroundings like Chioggia, the picturesque old city centre of Padua and Treviso, the city of Vicenza.
The humid climate it's probably the only imperfection we can find to Venice, but that would be otherwise faultless.
During a stay in Venice first of all you can't forget to visit St. Mark's Square and its Basilica, Doge's Palace, Rialto Bridge, Ponte dei Sospiri, Accademy galleries, Ca' d'Oro.
